The annual Inter House Dance Competition is an eagerly anticipated event that gives students the opportunity to showcase their dance talents.
This year’s theme for the Indian dances was “Dreams”. Abiding to the new rule of dancing to only 3 songs, each house displayed their perspective of the theme through their spectacular performances. Cauvery, who placed first in the Indian category, had a breathtaking dance on dreams that turn to nightmares. Godavari, taking second place, portrayed the dreams of a mother, Narmada filled the auditorium with the dream of unity in diversity and Sutlej displayed the journey of dreams through one’s life.
The judge for the Indian dance was Ms. Mahima Gulecha who began her journey in Kathak, under Smt. Jigyasa Giri. She is also an alumnus of Sishya School, Adyar.
The participants of the Western dances also impressed the crowd with their creativity, modern techniques and skillful song choice. Godavari choreographed their dances on “Hip Hop – dancing through the streets of New York”, Narmada with “Mob vs Monarchy”, “Cauvery on” Heroes vs Villains” and Sutlej on “Love”. In the Western category, Godavari placed first, Narmada second, Cauvery third and Sutlej fourth.
The judge for the Western dance was Ms. Gopicaa Su, a remarkable talent who has left an indelible mark on the world of dance and entertainment. With a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Law (BABL), she has not only excelled academically but also carved her niche in the world of creativity.
